La Herradura is a quaint resort in the western most point of the Costa Tropical, bordering the Costa del Sol, and is an ideal location for families or those seeking serenity. Literally translated, the word La Herradura means “horseshoe”, not surprisingly given the shape of this beautiful bay. The main beach of 2km is flanked by two mountains helping shelter it from winds, and a ban on private or commercial fishing, along with 25 Spanish naval shipwrecks nearby, make the entire coastline an outstanding resort for snorkelling, scuba diving and water sports in general. The protection afforded to the inland Natural Park status continues along most of the coastline including the coastal waters from Maro to La Herradura making this an area of outstanding natural beauty. If you enjoy your yachts, boats and the occasional supercar, then the nearby port at Marina del Este might be for you.
